The Mattei Academy is primarily dedicated to the company’s global network of distributors and original equipment manufacturer customers (OEMs). More than just a technical training center, the academy was conceived as a true hub for skills development and professional networking, capable of gathering international best practices, encouraging the exchange of know how and strengthening a global community of compressed air specialists.

Building on years of successful online training activities, Mattei Group is taking a significant step forward. The Mattei Academy is not a simple extension of previous courses, but a structured and integrated project marking the evolution to a comprehensive, long-term training platform.

At a time when industrial technology is evolving rapidly and energy efficiency has become a critical competitive factor, advanced technical training becomes a strategic pillar. A thorough understanding of system efficiency enables partners to optimize performance, reduce operating costs and deliver greater value to end users. At the heart of the project is the ambition to move beyond traditional one way training to create a cutting edge international knowledge hub. The academy acts as a meeting point where distributors’ field experience, OEM requirements and the technological expertise of the manufacturer converge to generate shared value and continuous innovation.

“A company like Mattei, with more than a century of industrial history dating back to 1919, carries a responsibility extending far beyond manufacturing and sales,” said Giulio Contaldi, CEO, Mattei Group. “We have a responsibility to preserve and pass on knowledge. A historic company has a duty to act as a bridge between generations, ensuring the technological heritage built over more than one hundred years does not remain confined to archives but becomes a living resource for future generations of technicians.

“With the Academy, we are creating a strong connection between the manufacturing culture of our territory, the excellence of Lombard and Italian industry, and the international markets in which we operate. The idea behind this hub is to build a network where the experience of seasoned professionals blends with the energy and digital mindset of younger generations because the values that have always defined our air compressors – longevity, reliability and the elimination of waste – must define how we build knowledge too. Human capital, like a well-engineered machine, only delivers its full value when it is cared for, continuously developed and built to last.”

One of the defining features of the academy is its focus on in person training. “Online training has been, and continues to be, a valuable tool, but in a high-tech manufacturing sector, we felt the need for a structured physical training environment,” said Lorenzo Monaco, Global Service Director, Mattei Group and coordinator of the project. “Younger generations of technicians and engineers need to see, dismantle, analyze and physically engage with the machines to fully understand fluid dynamics, system architecture and operational efficiency. The academy was created precisely to meet this need for practical, hands on learning and genuine connection with the product.”

The Mattei Academy’s training programs, delivered in both Italian and English, are designed to offer structured learning paths tailored to different levels of technical specialization.

The training catalog includes the Compressor Technician course, a foundational one day course focused on the operating principles of positive displacement air compressors. The course provides an in depth comparison between rotary vane and screw technologies, analysis of air and oil circuits, intake systems, as well as correct installation, maintenance and warranty procedures, including the MyCare service plan.

Alongside the core training offerings, the academy also provides product specific technical courses consisting of dedicated, one day sessions focused on individual product ranges, including the Blade Series, the ERC Series, as well as the RVD and RVX Series. Additional training modules are dedicated to electronic control systems, including Maestro XS, XB and XC controllers.

The academy offers on demand specialist courses tailored to advanced technical requirements. These include the Mattei Compressor Overhaul Training, an intensive practical program lasting from three to five days and entirely dedicated to complete machine overhauls, as well as specialized thematic technical modules covering inverter use and management, air treatment systems, oil analysis and tribology, basic electromechanics for air compressors and installation best practices. The training offering is completed by the Energy Audit (MIEM) course, an advanced program dedicated to energy diagnostics for compressed air systems, aimed at maximizing energy efficiency and reducing energy consumption.

The Mattei Academy will officially begin operations in May 2026 with its first classroom and workshop sessions. The official ribbon cutting ceremony and inauguration will take place in June, during a special event bringing together international partners, customers and stakeholders of the group.
