Hitachi Global Air Power Highlights Regional Manufacturing Strength

Hitachi Global Air Power US hosted U.S. Representative Frank J. Mrvan (IN-01) at its facility in Michigan City, IN, for a tour focused on advanced manufacturing, workforce development and community investment. He was joined by Michigan City Mayor Angie Nelson Deuitch and representatives from the Michigan City Chamber of Commerce.

During the visit, Rep. Mrvan engaged with leadership and employees to learn more about the company’s operations and its ongoing investments in the Michigan City facility, which continue to reinforce its position as a cornerstone employer in Northwest Indiana.

Mrvan. “I am grateful for your dedication and commitment to the strength of Northwest Indiana’s economy, our workforce and our exemplary manufacturing capabilities.”

The company has made significant upgrades to its Michigan City operations in recent years, enhancing production capabilities while prioritizing energy efficiency and sustainable practices. These include a $30 million capital investment in the construction of an 80,000 square-foot fabrication shop, a canopied storage building, an additional parking lot for employees and optimization of the previous footprint.

The Michigan City Chamber of Commerce also played a key role in coordinating the visit, highlighting the importance of public-private partnerships in attracting and retaining major employers in the region.
